Students as active key players in elearning institutions
Holger Hansen, Ruhr-Universität Bochum
The participation of students at the eLearning department of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is of particular importance. From the time the eLearning department, which is operating on the whole campus, was founded in 2005 onwards students have always been a part of it. They give extraordinary support to the eLearning team when it comes to the origanisation and execution of eLearning projects. On the one hand the participation of
students brings innovation because of their „students’ point of view on technology-aided teaching”. On the other hand the advisory dialogue between students and lecturers is demand-oriented and low-threshold. In addition to a variety of other measures, in Bochum this way works best in order to implement technology-based teaching at the university. Consumers and thus the beneficiaries of eLearning products are involved in various quarters of eLearning content generation and are thus far more accepting towards these concepts.
