The annual ILIAS Conference takes place since 2002. It is the most important user meeting of the international ILIAS LMS community. Below you find more information about each conference and links to the conference pages.
In 2009, the ILIAS Conference took place in Budapest and was hosted by Hungary's famous private university for applied sciences:

Main topics of the conference were:
- ILIAS 4
- Best practice for using ILIAS in e-learning
- Content creation and re-use, incl. SCORM 2004, content creation with OpenOffice plug-in eLAIX, and Open Educational Resources
- Quality management
- Online assessment
Keynotes speakers were Carl Holmberg and Zoltán Szegedy-Maszák.
In 2008, the ILIAS conference returned back to Helmut Schmidt Universität Hamburg where it took place as part of the Fernausbildungskongress of the Federal Armed Forces. Major topics were assessment, new ways for content production, models for organising e-learning and integration of ILIAS in IT infrastructures. A special focus was set on the use of ILIAS in military education.

The conference was hosted by Autonome Provinz Bozen - Südtirol, Italy.

The 2006 conference was part of the Source Talk Tage at Georg August-Universität Göttingen. Main topics were adaptiv learning and connecting ILIAS with other systems such as management systems or virtual classrooms.

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg hosted the 2005 conference that focused on how to implement eLearning strategies in schools, higher education, and business, on how to customise ILIAS to the needs of different target groups and on ways to create content.

The third conference was hosted by Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich and focused on first experience with ILIAS 3 as well as on didactical and strategical aspects of e-learning in higher education and business.

The conference was organised by Universität zu Köln and offered parallel sessions for developers and ILIAS users. And a first prototype of the new ILIAS 3 was presented at this event.

The first International ILIAS conference took place at the University of Federal Arms in Hamburg (today Helmut Schmidt Universität Hamburg) and gave an overview on how ILIAS is already used in higher education and professional training. It was the first big user meeting on international level.
