Towards Learning Design Patterns in ILIAS - Exploring Exemplary Learning Scenarios

Starting from the ILIAS conference in 2004, there has been a continuing discussion on using IMS Learning Design for implementing didactical patterns in an enhanced ILIAS course management system. Just now it appears to be useful to have a special session to examine the potential of IMS Learning Design with exemplary learning scenarios from the field. The goal of this workshop is to explore features and the implicit information model of IMS Learning Design and discuss how learning design patterns could be used to foster didactical awareness in learning scenarios using ILIAS. Participants of this workshop are asked to bring exemplary learning scenarios as use cases for learning design patterns. These learning scenarios should ideally comprise units of learning with specific teaching-learning-methods, which use elaborate interaction betweens learners, learning management system and teaching staff. After a short introduction in the basics of IMS Learning Design, the exemplary use cases are described in terms of IMS Learning Design and designed as units of learning with tools conformant to the specification.
